Finding gluten free kid-friendly snacks can be a scavenger hunt. But with this easy homemade recipe, you can make Gluten Free Cheez-Its that you can pack in your child's lunch box. This snack recipe makes a big batch of crackers, so your kids will have enough to last a week. They can also make these treats into any shape they want. But, don't forget, these Cheez-Its aren't just for kids. They're perfect for grown-ups, too! Store them in an airtight container to keep these snacks fresh all week long.

Did You Know?

While this recipe for gluten free crackers is one of the best copycat recipes ever, there's a lot more to the original Cheez-It's than meets the eye. The little orange crackers are nearing their 100th birthday; they were introduced in 1921 by the Green and Green Company in Dayton, Ohio. There are currently over 20 varieties in production, ranging from the original Cheddar to Provolone. They also now have their own snack mix, a Cheez-It Duoz mix (with Sharp Cheddar and Parmesan), and a Cheez-It Scrabble Jr. snack that has a tile on each cracker.

The company uses their quirky commercials about cheese maturity to make it known that they only use real cheese in their crackers, as opposed to flavorings or processed cheeses. Another fun fact about the crunchy, salty snacks is that Cheez-It's are not actually square. They are very, very close, however. A single Cheez-It actually measures 1.0 inch by 0.95 inch, so they are slightly rectangular.

My youngest loves cheesy snacks, especially cheese crackers. I will definitely need to give this recipe a try. It is nice to find a gluten free alternative to cheese nips. I will not be adding the cayenne pepper to them though. He wont go near them if I do. I hope he likes them!

Forget the kids, I'm going to eat these. It is always difficult to find a snack when eating gluten free. The kids have nice shape cutters to cut out out these crackers which should be fun. I can't wait to try these. They don't look too difficult to make at all.

My LO is also gluten free, so I really appreciate this recipe. Such a great option for him!

My daughter is gluten free and one thing she really misses is Cheese-Its. Can't wait to show her this recipe!

I have a bunch of tiny cookie cutters that would work perfectly for these crackers. Yum!

These look so good and would be an awesome treat in lunches

These look so fun!
