Chocolate-Glazed Gluten Free Mini Donuts

Fast and easy, these gluten free donuts using cake mix only take ten minutes to make. No frying required!

Combine cake mix and applesauce to make these adorable gluten free mini donuts. With just four ingredients, you can have itty bitty chocolate glazed donuts in a matter of minutes. These miniature donuts are baked in the oven and use cake mix, meaning you can skip all that frying and tiresome mixing. Absolutely adorable and charming, these cuties make a fantastic after dinner treat with a cup of coffee or even a fantastic gift to give guests when they’re headed home.

These bite-sized donuts take just minutes to make and you can easily make 2 to 3 batches in less than an hour. While the recipe calls for piping bags, using a jumbo ziploc baggie and snipping the corner works, as well.

  • 1 box Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix
  • 2 cups Applesauce
  • Cooking Spray
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup Heavy Whipping Cream or Milk
  • Piping Bags (or Ziploc Bag with Corner Snipped)


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  2. Combine cake mix and apple sauce in a bowl of a stand mixture or use a hand mixer to combine.

  3. Lightly coat 2 mini donut pans with cooking spray. Using a piping bag, pipe the batter in the mini donut crevices of the pan.

  4. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, until the donuts have puffed up.

  5. Remove from oven and shake out onto parchment paper.

  6. Make the chocolate glaze. Microwave ½ cup of chocolate chips for 60 seconds until melted. Add whipping cream and stir until smooth.

  7. Dip donuts into the chocolate, covering half with chocolate.

  8. Serve!
