Tips and Tricks

Making a homemade gluten free bread recipe can be difficult but it's not impossible. Tp help you make the best possible gluten free bread, we've compiled our top seven tips and tricks.

  1. Stay true to the recipe. If a blogger uses a specific gluten flour, then you should use the same brand of flour. The blogger has created the perfect recipe, and your bread is more likely to succeed if you don't substitute ingredients.

  2. Mix the dough vigorously. Your recipe won't include gluten, so don't worry about overmixing.

  3. Know the importance of xanthan gum and how to use it. If you're looking for more information about this gluten free ingredient, then check out this handy guide.

  4. Use an oven thermometer. Oftentimes ovens will be off by nearly 50 degrees. If your oven is too hot, then the crust can bake before the inside has a chance to set.

  5. According to Gluten Free Bread, it is important to store your gluten free flour in the refrigerator. This will prevent your flour from going rancid.

  6. Understand that gluten free dough will look different than traditional dough. One Green Planet says that although your dough may look more like a muffin batter, you do not need to add more flour. This "wet" dough is necessary to create a light and airy bread.

  7. Don't give up! Even if you don't succeed on your first (or second or third) attempt, try again! There are so many recipes available which means that you're bound to find the perfect gluten free bread recipe for you and your family.

I need to remember the tip about slicing it and sticking it in the freezer and only taking out what I need. I don't often eat or make gluten free bread and when I do, I don't always eat it fast enough and it gets all dry or if I leave it on the counter, it goes bad. This is a fairly simple and straight-forward recipe as far a gluten free bread recipes go.
